ARPAST - The Arkansas Paranormal and Anomalous Studies Team is a science-based research group dedicated to furthering our measured understanding of anomalous and unexplained phenomena via the utilization of state-of-the-art equipment, methodologies, and techniques.
Our goal is not to "prove" or "disprove" the existence of "spirits" or "ghosts." To carry such an agenda would be to presume an understanding of that which is not currently understood within the context of scientific fact. Our mission is to document, collect, and analyze environmental and corroborated data surrounding paranormal events while ruling out or uncovering any possible explanatory causes for such phenomena. Furthermore, we are NOT "ghost busters," nor do we do "interventions," "cleansings," or "exorcisms." BEWARE - those who claim to provide such "services" are irresponsibly propagating fraudulent claims. Since paranormal phenomena remains mostly unexplained, how could anyone effectively provide those services with any certainty of success? |

At the last monthly meeting, we did things a little bit differently. If you were unable to attend, you surely missed one of the most productive evenings yet. Those who did attend discussed some exciting ways to make ARPAST grow even bigger and better than it is right now as we wind down 2008 and begin a new year. We brainstormed and tossed ideas around and came up with some incredible suggestions on just how to make 2009 the year of ARPAST. But, there was one thing missing...
YOU.
ARPAST is now one of the largest and most respected paranormal organizations in the country, with nearly 150 members and the reputation of merging scientific methodology with the pursuit of the unknown. Our members are among the most dedicated and well-trained. We are respected. We are professionals. We are emulated by other groups.
We ROCK!
For all of us, the sky will be the limit in 2009. It's up to US and US alone how high we want to soar.
There is just one problem. We need more active members doing what they can to help ARPAST grow and thrive and become the biggest and the best. Right now, only a small core group of individuals are juggling two or three jobs with what little spare time they have, and that is a recipe for sure burn-out. We all have families, jobs and lives, but if we really enjoy what ARPAST offers us, then it's time to see what we can offer ARPAST.
We have openings for officer's positions in the following areas:
- Membership Director
- Media/Communications Director
- Marketing Director
- Fundraising Director
- Graphic Designer

All we ask of you is your time, passion and talent to help this organization show every other group out there how real scientific inquiry into the paranormal should be done. We have the chance to make a bold statement about who we are, and brand our name into areas of the country we haven't yet reached. We could even go global one day soon!
Some of our goals for the coming year include:
- Finding a location for an ARPAST headquarters - here we will conduct meetings, trainings, evidence review and special events. This will be a second home to ARPAST members and a place for visitors to come and learn all about us and what we do.
- Beginning a mentoring program - we would like to assign a mentor to each new incoming member, a great way for the longer-term members to help the newbies learn the ropes and make sure everyone is fully trained and ready to handle investigations and evidence gathering in a professional manner.
- Creating localized ARPAST groups throughout the country - imagine all the additional investigations we can do with several trained groups operating independently, yet in accordance with the ARPAST rules, charters and overall goals. Again, if this works we could go worldwide!
- Increasing visibility in the media and the public - by the end of 2009, we want the name ARPAST to become more widely known than TAPS, and then some! Heck, we want the name to be as branded as Campbell Soup, but we will just settle for getting more publicity and promotion opportunities in print, radio, TV and on the lecture and event circuits.
These are big dreams, and while we are all up to the task when it comes to enthusiasm, big dreams don't come easy. They require passion, dedication and HARD WORK. If you love what ARPAST is doing, and enjoy being a part of an important and growing organization with unlimited potential, then get off your couch and get involved.
